Election Time

June is election time, we are gearing up for an exciting time as a board of directors, some new faces will be joining us, and some returning ones too! I, Kristie Lemon, am board development chair and it is my job to ensure our board is effective and responsive to the organization's needs. In May we will announce our candidates! If you are interested but have not yet thrown your hat in contact me today.

It is such a joy serving on this board because we are a volunteer, working board and we are responsible for the terrific women centered, educational, exceptional networking experience the members get each month. Every woman on the board also holds a job, owns a business or two, has a family and dogs, and/or runs the world. Busy as we all are, board duty is a fun way to contribute to the community. Not to mention, NEW is a non-profit doing excellent charitable work (we raised $7,000 for Meadow Lark Manor). Here is what Linden Gross had to say, "Serving on the board allows me to have a say in how NEW is shaped and how it serves its members. So I feel like I have a hand in creating the organization's direction and focus, and that I'm not just sitting on the sidelines watching it happen without having much input."

We ask each board member what it is they would like to get out of being on the board and Jeanie Dumont's answer seems to reveal how we are doing, "I really recommend being a Board Member or Committee Volunteer because it makes everything about NEW more personal. More about me, because I am a part of it. I really regret when I have to miss any meeting (General or Board)."

A few other abbreviated comments about why we wanted to be part of the NEW board; help, friendship, relationships, broaden speaking skills, better marketing skills, and last but in no way least - to build credibility with other members.

Get involved, get onto a team, let us know if you are interested in serving on the board ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ). Now is a great time to apprentice with a board member.

Expand your skills, build your business, serve your community and have a fun time doing it!
